We've begged and pleaded for them to send out an email blast from headquarters. How much could that cost? What they don't seem to realize is, that once the seat is filled this December, it will be very difficult to change it. Right now, the stars are aligned just right. We have a far right wing Bush clone fighting tooth and nail with a racist American 'Independent," whose sole platform is based on building a wall around the U.S. (although he, too, vows to support Bush in all other respects).

I can't help but be envious of all the nationwide support for Paul Hackett. Yes, I know he's an Iraq war hero. But Steve has been a hero on the home front, defending our civil and legal rights in court. He even went to jail rather than back down to the racist comments of a judge! And Paul Hackett's next election is in the primary against a well-known progressive Democrat! Steve is fighting against ultra regressive forces who want to curtail our freedoms! If everyone who has sent an Act Blue contribution to Paul Hackett, or made a blogosphere comment about him would do the same for Steve, maybe we could send out that targeted mailer we so desperately need!
